Bought this as a replacement for my system. Was a little tuff to synchronize at first but After it finally synced I was as satisfied as I was with the original.
Love this product.Worth every dime payed for it.Easy to use.Have had one ten years and still works.Recently ordered extra collar to use as we are adopting 2 dogs after our 10 year old lost battle with cancer.
We've had our system for our dog for about 8 years and it works great. The only thing I need to check is that if the electric goes out, you need to reset the collar. However, the directions online and the customer rep make it easy. I make sure to purchase PetSafe batteries for best performance. My dog learned her boundary in no time. I recommend this to all my friends.
I am so grateful to have my two Havanese dogs safe in their wireless containment area. And they are so happy to be free to run all through the yard playing.
Usually products last till the warranty date. Three years ago we bought a back up receiver to be prepared for the inevitable. The old one still works great! We live in the country but on a busy back road and have three dogs. The only modification we made was put the unit on a more sturdy collar, and they are not bright red so they look a lot nicer. The only down size is the price of the additional collars, but it is worth it. We have a great radius for them to run and be safe.
We have used this system for over a year now. Now, my German Shepherd won't cross his boundary even without the collar. Recommend it for whatever space you have. Protects dog from chasing cars, too.
Been user since 2004. Needed to replace one of collars for older dog that was not hearing the beeps or getting the shock from original collar when she roamed out of range. New collar doing the job!!
We have had the Petsafe wireless fence for our German Shepherd/Irish Setter for the past 9 years. The adjustable settings (both correction strength and fence radius) and portability have been great. The dog stays safe from roads and is happy with a place to run. We have deer, pheasants, and other small animals in and around our property and the fence works great at keeping our dogs (the older dog and our newest 3 year old Cane Corso/Australian Shepherd) in the areas we want them to be in, even when we take them to visit elsewhere, they even stay put when there are neighbors with other dogs nearby.
We are very happy with our system and have traveled with it to other friends homes, vacation and have had a great experience with it. We have a shorty jack russell who has ventured right through the system to chase an animal but that's only been about 3 times in her 8 years. She hears the beep and that's enough for her! I am considering getting a smaller collar as the one that came with the system is too big and heavy. However, it is pretty expensive and our current one is still working great after 8 years!
We have used the wireless system for about 10 years. It has worked well to contain our large dog, who needs the freedom to run all over our 1 acre lot without becoming a nuisance to our neighbors or chasing the deer into the next county. We love this product.
We bought our wireless collar in 2009. I lost and replaced one prong in that time and replaced the neckstrap last year after the clasp broke on one side. Years ago I learned the importance of recalibrating the collar. Customer support patiently took me through the process two or three different times, spending as much time as was needed to help me reset my system. It finally sunk in how to do it myself without having to call in everytime for guidance. I learned to take the time to do it every time I change out the battery, and then I do walk about to test the perimeters/boundaries. So why am I writing this review? Because today, after a prolonged submersion (and subsequent dead battery) I thought I'd finally come to see the end of the road for my collar; and after 9 years I wouldn't have been surprised. I went to PetSafe.com thinking I might just go ahead and replace the collar. After seeing the replacement cost I decided to unplug my transmitter, place it in another location, swap out the collar battery and recalibrate the system again. Then I walked the perimeter and guess what...it kicked in and is continuing to work as usual. Sentinel Dog is now happily back out patrolling his perimeter :^> So, just a note to reviewers and other customers who have been disappointed with this system: I vigorously encourage you to call customer service and take the time to really learn how to reset your system. Because in my experience 'system failure' is more likely operator error. Just sayin... Taking time to do this may save you the unnecessary cost of replacing your system or collar, and will help bring you up to speed on how to manage your system on your own for years to come. Again, just sayin :^>
we've used the containment system for a year with our great pyrenese it works beautifully keeping him safe from straying. only changed the batteries twice. today however the collar broke and we found him in the neighbors yard. had to pen him up til we get a replacement but thanks for a great product. we also have the training collar system and are very pleased with it as well.
This wireless collar has been a llifesaver for my elderly mother with a big dog
Customer service is polite, speaks clear English and are very thorough when I had questions. Thank-you for this wonderful product. I'll recommend it to everone. These people that have had problems really need to call customer service so they can help troubleshoot. Thanks
We brought our Collie home about 2 years ago. Within the first to months she ran away twice. The second time the neighbors mistaking shot her thinking she was a coyote. We then started our hunt to find something to keep her on the property. (I hate seeing dogs tied up on a short least like lawn ornaments!) We have been using our Wireless Fence for a little over a year and a half and have not had any problems. Every once in a while we have to change the battery. Other than that, this system is reliable and low maintenance. I do sleep much better knowing Kapree is safe.
Just wanted to give a big thanks to PetSafe for helping us keep our family whole!
I cannot say enough good things about this system. I have 3 boy dogs. Two border collies and a golden retriever. They are all under 4 years of age with enough energy to turn my hair grey. I never worry about them not being home when I return. Other strays taunt them and i have no fear of them running off to chase them. In the 3 years I have used this system I have only had a couple problems. Long hair in the winter, remember to shave where the prongs land or tighten the collar up a bit. The slip to tighten feature on the collar, if u have multiple dogs check every once in a while that they didn't tug on each other enough to tighten ones collar too much. Spare parts, always a good idea to keep batteries, an extra collar band, and prongs on hand. Sometimes wrestling around leads to missing pieces. I am planning to call Monday to check into a collar for my yorkie. He loves to play with the big dogs and its hard to do so on a leash.
My sister just moved to the country a couple months ago as well and this system has made her city dogs transfer to country living amazingly easy.
Great choice for large yards that are not "fenced"
We purchased this system for our German Shepherd and it works great. We have a large yard in the country but wanted to keep her safe from neighborhood traffic and to keep her from chasing the occasional rabbit into the neighbors cattle fields. She quickly learned the system and seldom ever challenges it; the audible warning is enough of reminder for her to retreat back into the safe zone.
This has been an excellent product! We live on a busy road in the country and it has managed to detain a 120 pound bloodhound for almost 2 years! He knows exactly what that beeps means and doesn't test it too often! It's also perfectly waterproof as he goes swimming in the pond with it on!
The system has done what it said it would do. I will not chain a dog up nor confine him in a small area, this is a great solution to a big problem. I feel protected, the dogs get to do their job and I don't have to worry about any theft problems.
We bought this for a wandering rescue dog we adopted. She had been a hunting dog and if she saw a bird or anything in the yard off she'd go - to the street or to harass our distant neighbors goats. We invested in the wireless fence collar and transmitter and within days she learned her perimiter and after a couple months we rarely ever put the collar on unless a new dog is visiting. She knows her boundaries and even without the collar reminding her she stays close to home and has a lot more freedom than she did when we'd have to tire her out or put her in a pen. We just trained my parents Golden Lab puppy while they were on vacation and they were thrilled to see that she really does stay in the yard! They live on 4 acres in a large house so we put one transmitter at each end of the house so their dog has two big circles to play in. It really gave that puppy a much better quality of life to not have to be tied up or in its dog run most of the day. Great Product I highly recommend!!!! I can't think of a more economical way to ensure you dogs are home safe!
We love this product. But have adopted another rescue pet. We live in a subdivision and need the structure of this product. I am soooo disappointed of your price to just add another collar to our unit! Seriously guys..
I have 1 German Shepherd and another that is German Shepherd collie mix,and i live in the country and on a water front property, this was my first pet safe system .I love the whole unit,I can keep my dogs away from the water front during winter months, and from my neighbors also, its amazing ,my dogs hear their collar beep and they get back automatically and when their collar is off especially(German Shepherd)she know where to stop in yard,I would recommend this to any dog owner,as I have shown a lot of friends and some of them have purchased unit, peace of mind as my shepherd is a big girl, and she thinks she owns the whole road! Great product!
We have multiple dogs - I would like to see personalized options for the collars or maybe color choices to make it easier to keep the right collar on the right dog
I bought this additional collar for my wireless fence system, and I do swear by this as it keeps my dogs home in the yard...but I was sad that my new collar arrived with the battery already turned on and it only lasted a week
We have used the wireless system for about 7-8 years. It seems like the last couple of years the collars have just randomly quit. We have resychrinized the unit and trouble shooters but doesn’t work. the collars are not cheap and kind of frustrating. We got to buying them 2nd hand and that hasn’t been successful. Overall it’s great just be ready to buy new collar units at least every 2 years.
The pet safe collar is amazing and keeping my dogs at bay. However, being that I have two dogs and a dog that used one prior to his passing, I have owned about six of these colors. Not sure what the problem is? But they only seem to last about a year and a few months and they just stopped working. For the price you pay, I would think they would last way longer than that
We have owned this system for 3 1/2 years now and it has worked perfectly until 2 days ago. I noticed my dog was farther than normal so I took the battery out and replaced it with a new one; however, that was not the problem so then I had extra batteries and tried those and it still does not work. So we have been taking our dog out on a leash and boy is that a pain when he is use to roaming and taking his time. Is there anything we can do to fix this collar or do we have to buy another one, which so expensive!?
We have had this systems for about two years now. And we have replaced the collar twice already, and just two days ago our neighbor informs us that our dog is across the road, we checked the collar, and once again it's not working. So now we are having to bring our dogs out on their leashes, until we figure out what is going on with the collar. It's way too expensive for us to buy another collar right now with Christmas coming up, this collar is only about six months old.
I love this product, my dog responds very well to it. If not for the following issue I would have rated it a 5. The only draw back is the audio (whistle) quits working after about 15 months (13 months on one, 15 another, 16 on 3rd). It is getting very expensive replacing these as there is no audible warning for the dog, just a shock if I don't replace.
I purchased this collar as part of the wireless system and it worked great for the first two months. The first battery lasted two months and the second battery lasted one month. It beeped when the battery was low to alert me. At 3 months old it started using up a battery each week and no longer beeps to alert me. My dog has escaped several times because I didn’t know the battery was used up, and I’m using up a battery every week. For this reason the system is essentially useless unless I test the collar to see if it is working every day and replace the battery weekly. I don’t know how long the batteries are supposed to last but the first one lasted two months. Now I have to buy an entire new collar after only 6 months of use which is frustrating as this system is not cheap.
I purchased the original wireless system a little over a year ago. Living in NC it gets too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer to leave my dog outside for very long so I only get to really use the system/collar in the spring and fall. The collar was working fine in the fall when it was put away for the season. Now the weather in NC is starting to break a little so I went to use the collar and it's not working. I have replaced the batteries and even gone as far as to try it on a different system that a friend of mine has, still won't work. I am very disappointed in how long the collar actually lasted. I wish they sold an extended warranty for us that don't get to use ours much so we don't really get but one season to make sure it doesn't mess up. I am a hard working middle to low class person that just doesn't have the means to replace this collar or be worried about how long the next one will last. I just want to keep my pet safe and even that cost too much these days.
This is the second collar since buying 2 units 3 years ago. 1st collar died and wouldn’t connect so we purchased another one less than a year ago. That replacement is now randomly shocking dog.
We bought the wireless fence which came with a collar and then we purchased another collar for our other dog. The batteries are easily dislodged(then lost) when they are playing with each other and one of the clasps broke as well within a matter of weeks so it's unusable. I've lost count on the number of batteries we've had to purchase. I'm disappointed in the collar quality. The actual wireless system seems to work well as long as the collars are functioning properly though.
Bought one a year ago, and it is buzzing without the battery in and no shock when near fence.. bought another one before this one malfunctioned and it is randomly shutting off.
I've had the wireless containment system for less than in year. In that time i've replaced the batteries in the collar 3 times, and now the collar isn't working at all. With a brand new battery i have no LED light on the collar. We have a rescue who is very sneaky and this is the only way we can contain her in the yard. For the high price the product should last much longer. And to buy a replacement collar is ridiculously expensive, especially if it won't last!
I like the idea of the wireless fence, however, it does not work. The collar only works a fifth of the time. One out of five times will the collar work. I have been working for weeks to get it to work, but it won't. I am really upset because this was a big investment and I am back to square one on an option for containment of my dog. I wish the product was reliable, but it is a big waste of time. Do not get it if you don't want to be frustrated with it working!
